Scrufizzer – “Be Someone” | Music Video

Living up the May heat is all too inviting, exciting and enticing, inspiring sun drenched walks and hours spent outdoors basking in the fine weather. Music is in the air, and if the summer breeze was to blow a song in your ears, it would be Scrufizzer‘s “Be Someone”.

Scru Face, aka, Scrufizzer, is a young emcee from West London who has collaborated with the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Donae’o and Preditah. Named as one of BBC 1Xtra’s 12 for 2012, Fizzer’s tracks have been played on  Annie Mac, Grimshaw, Rob Da Bank and Trevor Nelson, garnering a number of radio spins for several of his songs including “I Don’t Wanna Scru” and “Steam.”

“Be Someone” may prove just as popular.

This wonderful picnic of a track serves up so many joys to feast on in one well packed musical basket, it all but merits a thousand listens back to back. It is one of those songs that is about as likely to get stuck in your head as some food is to get stuck in your teeth after a great, appetising meal. Only “Be Someone” does not leave you sated. You want more and more and more.

Melodiously switching back and forth between energetically delivered raps and a soulfully sung hook, young Scruffizer oozes talent and inspiration over a lush, expansive and marauding beat composed by Samiyam – the Brainfeeder producer from Ann Arbor, Michigan

Sam’s production is simply juiced up with the sounds of summer, waving, cresting and swelling all over the place with a fun, uplifting spirit that accomplishes the feat of sounding refreshingly old school, all the while feeling new. The song’s colourful video is exactly the same.

This is a beautiful ode to cooling out in the sun; music in the summer.
