Regina Spektor – “All The Rowboats” | Music Video

Russian-American singer/songwriter and pianist Regina Spektor makes a splash with her latest video, “All The Rowboats,” from her upcoming LP What We Saw From the Cheap Seats.

Truth be told, this video’s pretty weird, with Spektor standing in/running through a black void with a bunch of computer-generated stuff flying around, trapped in (climbing up?) what looks like a net, climbing a rope wall then tying herself in the ropes, almost being crushed by walls closing in, rowing in a nonexistent boat with nonexistent oars on a nonexistent body of water — basically a whole bunch of randomness, creating a visual rollercoaster that’s hard to follow but admittedly interesting to watch.

Stop-motion animator Peter Sluszka and director Adria Petty (who also directed Beyoncé’s “Countdown” video) are the minds behind this engaging piece.

Take the ride for yourself below, and be on the lookout for What We Saw From the Cheap Seats on May 29.
