SoulCulture is proud to present the debut music video from emerging UK talent Josephine, with “What A Day.”

Within a few years of being given her first guitar at the age of 12, Josephine was gigging in her hometown of Manchester and soon writing her own songs, drawing on the likes of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Bob Marley for inspiration. “I learned a lot from their story-telling techniques and the more complex rhythmical style they used,”” she says, adding, ““Reggae taught me to feel the music.””

A rousing, soulful-folk offering seeped in familiarity I can’t quite place [but as Prince said, if the truth sounds like a memory, then you know it was meant to be], “What A Day” serves as a promising introduction to this fresh-faced, intriguing singer-songwriter who might, just possibly, become rather huge.

With her debut album, titled Portrait, set for release on October 8th through Ark Recordings [pre-order via iTunes], enjoy the official video for “What A Day” below and cop the single here.
