No Lay flows ferociously over Massive Attack’s “Unfinished Sympathy” [Video]

London rapper No Lay makes a serious impression to the soundtrack of UK electronica group ans trip-hop pioneers Massive Attack‘s haunting ’90s hit single, “Unfinished Sympathy.”

The track originally struck position 13 on the UK charts in 1991 and was featured on the band’s debut album Blue Lines in the same year, with Shara Nelson on lead vocals plus a sample from John McLaughlin and Mahavishnu Orchestra‘s “Planetary Citizen”.

Flowing ferociously over the track for LinkUp TV’s Behind Barz series, No Lay recently set her her online fanbase alight with this video. “The more these people doubt me the more I will come back & raise the bar because that is my life spitting bars & raising em,” she later stated – and now, I have to agree.

Many have indeed doubted or overlooked No Lay among the rising wave of media interest of UK rappers, both male and female, but displaying assured delivery, a flair for personal storytelling and a more intricate flow than I’d noticed she could possess prior, with this performance she indicates she can be considered among the best of them.
