John Mayer – ‘Queen Of California’ | Music Video

Guitar superstar John Mayer checks in with the video for the country-ish “Queen of California,” the second single from his latest LP Born & Raised.

It’s my understanding that Mayer’s never been a super-fancy guy, and his new visual definitely supports that notion. Directed by Sam Jones, the clip is edited to look like one long shot following Mayer from his bedroom to the street and throughout whatever Californian city (considering the title, I’m assuming he’s in Cali) he happens to be in. The video may not be fancy, but it’s definitely well done and fits the song’s “being able to have a hopeful vibe about something again” aesthetic. RumorFix seems to think the concept was inspired by Matt Costa’s “Cigarette Eyes,” and since I haven’t the slightest who Matt Costa is or what “cigarette eyes” even means, I guess I’ll have to take their word for it.

Anyway, check out the video below. Born & Raised is available now. Get your copy via iTunes.
