Jill Scott “Shame” videoshoot in Philly for new Light of the Sun LP | Behind-the-Scenes

Earlier this week, poetic Soul icon Jilly from Philly aka Jill Scott allowed CNN behind-the-scenes of her video shoot for new single “Shame,” from her forthcoming fourth album The Light Of The Sun.

With rappers Eve and Black Thought [of The Roots] in attendance, the video for “Shame” was shot at Scott’s hometown Cecil B. Moore Recreation Center, “where she started writing poetry and music as a kid,” which she recently saved from closure by financing needed repairs through her Blues Babe Foundation.

‘The new album, set to release later this year, is a rebirth of sorts for Scott. On it is an array of musical influences from blues to hip-hop. “I really wanted to go back to my original state. I love hip-hop, and I was born to it,” Scott said. “I needed to come back to it, it’s been awhile, and I’m in a new environment.”‘ CNN reports on The Light Of The Sun, to be released through Warner Bros. Records. Watch below.
