Gamers Geekout: Mark Ronson – “Circuit Breaker”

Gamers, geek out at Mark Ronson’s video from his forthcoming LP, Record Collection, enlisting Jordan Galland and Gary Breslin for album track “Circuit Breaker,” featuring San Fran turntablist Teeko.

Ronson has decided that the time has come to finally leave the instruments and the mixing desk and get behind the mic himself.  “It was very weird to be on the other side of the glass,” he said of his new role in the studio. It gave me a lot more respect for all the singers I’ve ever worked with.”

And it appears that it was a certain Lady Gaga who inspired Ronson to step into the vocal booth after the New York pop princess suggested he take singing lessons from her vocal coach, Don Lawrence, while the two were recording in 2007.

Following the huge success of Version for which he won a Brit Award for Best Male, not to mention his production credits on Amy Winehouse’s uber smash Back to Black in 2006, Ronson knows he has a lot to live up to on the new album. But it appears that confidence is high as he enters the final stages of recording.

“I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever done,” Ronson said of his new work. “Back to Black was a seminal album and it’s something I’m very proud of, but I think you grow with every record.”

Released under the name Mark Ronson and the Business, and also featuring guest appearances from the Scissor Sisters‘ Jake Shears, along with Miike Snow, the new record will also be presenting some live opportunities, with London’s Lovebox festival already booked this summer.  —MUZU
