Dwele – ‘What Profit’ | Music Video

Dwele has long been characterized by his soul-drenched vocals and the jazzified grooves on which they lie, and his latest single “What Profit” furthers that notion to the fullest. The first song we’ve heard from the Detroit-born crooner since his 2010 album W.ants W.orld W.omen, “What Profit” is simultaneously airy and thumping, with Dwele’s smooth voice and lyrics about money not being worth as much as giving your woman that loving she deserves stepping lightly above the aggressive, self-produced bassline.

Director Darren Brown gives the very aware single a sharp set of visuals, with Dwele’s Bentley-driving high-roller realizing in the nick of time that he’d better ackright before he loses his woman and has nothing but his material things to keep his warm at night.

It’s unclear where this single will end up, but it’s probably safe to assume that Dwele is currently in the kitchen cooking up his next batch of smooth tunes. In the meantime, you can get your hands on “What Profit” via iTunes.
