Don Trip – “Like Me” | Music Video

I don’t give a f*ck if they don’t like me” rings through the chorus on Don Trip‘s “Like Me”. It rings true with the Memphis-born rapper’s approach to the game, too. Having been rounded up in the XXL Freshmen 2012 criticism (Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg described Trip as having the personality of a “dead frog”), the characteristically reposed rapper makes it clear exactly how many craps he gives having released the DJ Drama-hosted Guerilla mixtape.

Much like Trip’s style, the video doesn’t depend upon flamboyant aesthetics to build a good product. Director Joe Yung Spike places the emcee-of-the-moment in a white room with his homies as he delivers his menacing bars bearing a clip in hand. “Like Me” is produced by fellow Memphis-native Drumma Boy (best known for crafting modern Southern classics like Birdman‘s “Money To Blow” and Young Jeezy‘s “Put On“) and can be found on the aforementioned Guerilla mixtape.
