Darq E Freaker f/ Danny Brown – “Blueberry (Pills & Cocaine)” | Music Video
Detroit-hailing rapper and one-tenth of this year’s XXL Freshmen class Danny Brown cites the UK’s own Grime movement as a big influence, but you might have already guessed that by listening to his XXX release. The oddball emcee, who calls Dizzee Rascal his Beatles, has previously carried his gap-toothed grin and rude rhymes across the pond with a collaboration with Dubstep producer Joker for Pitchfork’s Selector. It was a fusion of sounds that felt natural to the ear; much like today’s Transatlantic offering.
Forming an alliance with prominent Grime beatsmith Darq E Freaker (the force behind Tempa T‘s ferocious “Next Hype”), the pair stir sounds to create a potent concoction entitled “Blueberry (Pills & Cocaine)”. The collaboration surfaces today in both single (via Southern Hospitality) and music video form, with the latter depicting both men wreaking havoc in the LDN.
