Having already signed with G.O.O.D Music as a producer, it would have seemed like the next logical step for Travi$ Scott to go all the way and sign on to Kanye‘s label as an artist too – but it looks like the kid has other plans as T.I. announced on radio that he has signed the young rapper to his own label Grand Hustle, further building on his young empire of up and coming artists.
The deal has been in the works for a while now, as label boss T.I. reveals that he found Scott at the same as he found Iggy Azalea who has been the label’s first lady for quite some time.
“I found [Travi$ Scott] online,” Tip explains. “I was just getting out of prison and I was rebuilding, and I kinda like just cast a wide net. I need the best that right now has to offer. After casting that net, I got Trae the Truth, I had the pleasure of joining forces with him, Chip…Iggy Azalea, and also Travi$ Scott.”
With two heavyweights in Hip-Hop seeking out the Houston-hailing rapper and producer, Scott appreciates being mentored and working with both T.I. and Kanye.
“It’s ill, it’s like the best of both worlds. You get to talk to these guys and they’re both well experienced. Tip is there with me like, ‘Whatever, bro.’ I’ll be like, ‘Man, I need this,’ and he’ll be like, ‘Man, I got you.’”
