Who needs a press release? With her fourth studio album, Matangi, looming, M.I.A. took to her Twitter account to reveal a host of details on the upcoming LP. In a back-and-forth scenario with her fans, the Roc Nation-managed artist announced that Matangi will be released in December, and will be packaged with an autobiographical book, a documentary and an art exhibition. She also stated that the album will have no guest features, and only producers “that dont act like fame whore coloniser.” Yikes.
Regarding the sound and concept, M.I.A. said that the record will sound like “paul simon on acid,” and will serve as a giant middle finger to her critics. “No one in the industry collected blows in the last 3 years as much as me, this is a fuck you to them and a thank you to you,” she wrote.
As a final gift, the stylish singer unveiled the tracklist for Matangi, which you can view below. You may notice her popular “Bad Girls” single is lacking, but she confirmed that the track will feature on the final cut.
