The nominees for the 2012 BET Awards were announced at a press conference Tuesday in New York City. Leading the nominations pack is Kanye West with seven, followed by R&B sensation Beyonce with six and Jay-Z with five.

Beyonce landed two nominations in the Video of the Year category alone with her videos “Countdown” and “Love On Top.” She will compete against her husband Jay-Z and his Throne partner West, as their videos “Ni**as in Paris” and “Otis” are also up for the title, as is Usher’s “Climax.”

Performers at this year’s awards include Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown, while Frankie Beverly and Maze will be presented with the “Cadillac Lifetime Achievement” award.

Samuel L. Jackson will host this year’s show, which airs live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on July 1st at 8pm EST.
