MOBO Awards 2012 to be held in Liverpool | Music News

Organisers of The Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards have announced that the show will take place at a new location this year, kicking off in Liverpool in November.

The annual event which celebrates urban music in the UK was held in Glasgow last year, and is set to return to the Scotland area in 2013 and 2015 as part of a three-year deal agreement.

With a new location comes new excitement as heard from Kanya King, the founder of the MOBO Awards, who is ready for another historic event. “We had a fantastic show in Liverpool two years ago and worked very well with the City,” said King “Both Liverpool and Mobo are getting ready for another historic event in this Olympic year.”

Big winners at last year’s event included Jessie J, who went home with four awards including the nod for Best UK Act, Tinie Tempah for Best Hip-Hop/Grime Act, and Rihanna who earned the award for Best International Act.

This year’s MOBO Award nominees are to be announced in early September, with tickets for the award ceremony going on sale at 9am on Wednesday, August 15.
