While at the BMI Urban Awards Friday night, the lovely (and award-winning) Marsha Ambrosius chatted with Rap-Up about a couple projects she’s been working on, including a track called “The One” on the highly anticipated G.O.O.D. Music compilation Cruel Summer, as well as her sophomore solo album Friends & Lovers.
Though she mostly played coy about her work on Cruel Summer, she did admit that the song is “amazing” and that her longstanding working relationship with Kanye West continues to be a strong one.
She was a bit more forthright when it came to her own project, though, revealing that she’d be holding absolutely nothing back on Friends & Lovers.
“You can expect me to be a complete asshole, honestly and openly,” she said without a hint of jest. “The expressions of a woman — a very honest woman — and I’m not taking any prisoners.”
Hear what else Ms. Ambrosius had to say below. Friends & Lovers is still in progress. Cruel Summer drops September 18.
