Loick Essien covers Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” [Video]

Fresh from debuting new single “Me Without You” on Radio 1 this week, vocal powerhouse and one of 2011’s breakthrough stars Loick Essien comes through with the latest installment in his Loick Lounge series of acoustic covers. He’s previously taken on Chase and Status’ “End Credits” and this time does Kings of Leon‘s modern classic “Use Somebody”, a song that really doesn’t get covered nearly enough for my liking.

Future tracks on my Loick Lounge wishlist include Adele’s “Someone Like You”, Jessie J‘s “Price Tag”, something by Coldplay and any Bruno Mars song (album joints only though, I don’t really mess with that It’s Better If You Don’t Understand stuff, too much character for me). I’m feeling like the Uncle Ruckus of black music right now.

Yeah, so back to being serious… big up Loick all day, this video of him performing “Ancient” for SB.TV still gives me goosebumps. No ravey synths, no bells-and-whistles, just raw talent.
