LL Cool J remembers Beastie Boys’ Adam “MCA” Yauch [Video]

Following the tragic news that Beastie Boys emcee Adam “MCA” Yauch had passed away at aged 47 on Friday following a three year battle with cancer, HipHollywood caught up with LL Cool J at a recent charity event in Beverly Hills where he remembered his friend.

“It hurts, the Beastie Boys helped me break into the business. I wouldn’t be here, talking about the things we are doing today, if it wasn’t for them,” said the rapper-turned-actor, struggling to hold back the tears.

“Adam is an amazing guy and it hurts. I know they have millions of fans, I know they have millions of people out there who are suffering and hurting today, but I would just encourage people to preserve their legacy by continuing to represent the culture that Adam loved,” he added.

Together, LL and the Beastie Boys helped propel the success of Def Jam in their early stages.
