Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV breaks Jay Z x Kanye West’s 1st week iTunes sales record | Music News

Lil Wayne released Tha Carter IV to less than exemplary reviews just four days ago. But proving all the critics wrong, the album has sold more than 300,000 copies in the digital store. This is more than Jay Z and Kanye‘s collaborative effort with Watch The Throne, which broke previous iTunes sales records with 290,000 copies sold in its first week. This is an impressive feat considering Tha Carter IV leaked several days before its release, while Watch the Throne was kept under lock and key.

Although many doubted whether Weezy could replicate the success of Tha Carter III, estimates of first week sales have now been reassessed to a maximum of 975,000 versus previous estimates of 900,000.
