Established in 2007, every October Cellar Door assemble the “Best of British” from the soul, dance, hip-hop and underground music talent. On Tuesday 6 October, as part of Black History Month CELLAR DOOR present ‘BEST OF BRITISH in support of Sickle Cell’ with LIVE performances from the cream of UK talent, including Double Brit Award winner MS DYNAMITE, Mercury Records signed KID BRiTISH, Guardian-approved electro pop queen MPHO, UK Funky specialist DONAEO and Hugo Urban Rules winner XO MAN. The monstrous line up will also feature hotly tipped soul vocalist SEWUESE plus MTV Base favourite MZ BRATT, female lyricist PRINCESS NYAH and Hip hop / Grime poet TINIE TEMPAH.

The artists will be coming together to perform in the heart of London’s West End, to help raise awareness of Sickle Cell Disorder. Proceeds from the event are donated to the Sickle Cell Society, a UK registered charity 104 6631. This year represents the 30th anniversary of the Sickle Cell Society. Coupled with this, ‘Best of British 2009’ follows the adoption of a resolution by the United Nations General Assembly recognizing that sickle cell disease is a GLOBAL public health issue. It is one of a number of events being held worldwide to celebrate progress in developing screening and care and to highlight the work that still needs to be done.
