Kendrick Lamar has scored his first UK top 20 chart position with his major label debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d city.

The 25 year old Compton, California raised rapper whose official debut album, released on October 23rd in the United Kingdom via TDE/Aftermath/Interscope records, has received widespread critical acclaim (read our review here) and entered the UK charts this week at number 16, despite being released one day later than most albums on iTunes and receiving minimal promotion on these shores. Meanwhile in the states he is set to take the number 2 position on the Billboard 200 with an estimated 225-240k units sold in the 1st week, only held off the top spot by the country music superstar Taylor Swift who also topped the UK charts this week with her album Red.
