Joell Ortiz covers Michael McDonald’s “I Keep Forgetting” [Video]

Gangstas have soul, too, and Slaughterhouse‘s Joell Ortiz proves it with his rendition of Michael McDonald’s hit, “I Keep Forgetting” — yup, that Michael McDonald.

Fans got a little taste of Joell’s impersonation skills on episode 1 of Slaughterhouse’s tour video blog, but the crowd in Fort Lauderdale got to experience it live Sunday night during a lighter moment of the usually hard-spitting crew’s show at Revolution.

And for those of you too young to know who Michael McDonald is, that’s OK. You’re already familiar with “I Keep Forgetting” — Warren G sampled it for “Regulate.” Now, if you’re unfamiliar with “Regulate,” you really need to brush up on your Hip-Hop.

We’ve gotta admit, though, Joell’s impression is pretty damn accurate. Still, he probably shouldn’t quit his day job. There’s a much bigger market for dope MCs than for Puerto Rican Michael McDonald impersonators. We haven’t done the research, but we’re pretty sure of that.

Check out Joell’s rendition below, then compare it to the original to see how it stacks up.
