Jhené Aiko – ‘3:16AM’ | Music Video

It’s been a long time coming (a trailer for the clip was released all the way back in March, and I needn’t detail how many centuries ago that feels like in blog time), but today, the stunning Californian songstress known as Jhené Aiko finally debuts the music video to her “3:16AM” track. The minimalistic yet progressive number is produced by long-time collaborator Fisticuffs, who also takes credit for Miguel‘s “Arch and Point”, while Topshelf Junior takes directing duties on the visual tip.

The clip captures Ms. Aiko in all her troubled beauty, taking proceedings from a depressive, densely-lit cabin, to the ambient atmosphere of the woods, and finally to the lonely state of the desert, where things end tragically. Both musically and visually, “3:16AM” is a superb cinematic effort, which leaves no guesses as to why Def Jam recruited this singing talent last year.

Watch the video below and stay tuned for details on Jhené’s upcoming debut album, tentatively titled Souled Out.
