Jessie J tops BBC Sound of 2011 list

Essex singer/songwriter Jessie J has won the top spot on the Sound of 2011 list, BBC’s yearly compilations of new artists pegged for big things over the next year.

London producer James Blake follows in second place, indie group The Vaccines are in third, singer/producer Jamie Woon is in fourth and Birmingham bred Clare Maguire nabbed the 5th spot.

With a strong top 5, it’ll be interesting to see which acts realise their potential commercially over the course of the year. Last year’s winner, Ellie Goulding, achieved success with her breakout single “Starry Eyed”, reached no#2 in the charts with her cover of Elton John‘s 1970s classic “Your Song” and, just like this year’s winner Jessie J, also scooped the BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice award.
