Jay-Z performs “Thank You” over Boondocks instrumental at Roseland Ballroom, NYC [Video]

We were wondering why Jay-Z performed a concert in New York last night with nada to promote; it turns out, the Roseland Ballroom gig was part of Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim Upfront Week show, with fellow Hip Hop stars DJ Khaled, Fabolous, Swizz Beatz and Pharrell all in attendance.

Jigga is known to switch up his beats for special occasions – like when he performed over UK spitter Lethal B‘s Grime hit “Pow” whilst in the London several years back at that rather epic Royal Albert Hall concert with Nas, Beyonce and co – and last night was no exception; see RapRadar‘s footage below of Jay-Z performing “Thank You” last night, from his 2009 The Blueprint 3 LP, over a Boondocks instrumental…

…which doesn’t do it for me at all sonically, but is an interesting experiment nonetheless.
