Jay-Z and Coldplay bring in the new year with a concert in Brooklyn [Video]

Last night saw celebrations all around the world as we brought in the new year, but for Jay-Z there was no place like home as he co-headlined a show with Coldplay in his Brooklyn roots at the Barclays Centre. The show began with an 80 minute show by Coldplay, with Jay-Z joining them on stage at exactly 11.59pm for the new year countdown.

Coldplay’s Chris Martin brought in the new year by singing “Auld Lang Syne” at midnight, joined by Roc Nation’s Bridget Kelly as Jay-Z took in the scenes of the crowds from the stage, with Martin’s wife and actress Gwyneth Paltrow also jumping on stage momentarily with her kids to start 2013 with her whole family.

Jay then began his set packed with hits, beginning by performing “Run This Town” alongside Coldplay using the same set up they used when performing at the London Paralympics with Martin singing Rihanna‘s verses in her absence.

Hov closed the show with a sum up of his year, saying, “2012 was a major year for me, it was the birth of my beautiful daughter Blue, it was the birth of this building. Tonight I feel like I’m in the right place. I wish you the best 2013 possible. Peace and love.”
