Jacob Banks – ‘Kids on the Corner’ | Acoustic Performance

I saw 20-year-old Brummie Jacob Banks perform for the first time last night in support of Daley at Camden’s iconic Jazz Cafe and he impressed me massively. Accompanied by a guitarist and wielding an acoustic guitar of his own, the MOBO Unsung winner (who is managed by the team behind UK Hip-Hop titan Wretch 32 and hot new talent Kyra) impressed with his rich, soulful vocals and some decent, self-penned songs. At one point, he slid into a fairly special cover of Frank Ocean‘s “Swim Good” which was the icing on the cake for me.

Check out an acoustic video he uploaded earlier this year of “Kids on the Corner,” another of his own tracks. He’s reportedly got a project forthcoming, and I’m very much looking forward to hearing more from this exciting soul talent.
