The godfather of gangsta rap and hip hop legend Ice T brought his new Hip Hop documentary Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap to the UK this week; performing alongside Melle Mel and Chuck D at it’s premiere screening in London’s Hammersmith Apollo on Thursday (July 19).

On the promotional run, T sat down with Channel 4 news for a lengthy interview on how the film came about, working with his peers, a quick lesson in the foundations of Hip Hop culture and gives his frank opinion on gun laws in America – in light of the recent shooting in Denver – and much more.

As usual he keeps it 100, staying collected under interviewer Krishnan Guru-Murthy‘s somewhat skeptical line of questioning; and the usually poker-faced journalist, seemingly surprised by his honesty (especially when T speaks on his colourful past), gets a bit flustered – making for not only an insightful but cheekily brilliant interview.
