Hit-Boy talks Kanye influence, ‘Cruel Summer’ + more on Sway In The Morning [Video]

As promised, following yesterday’s showcase of freestyling (skilled freestyling, may I add), here he have the interview portion of Hit-Boy‘s visit to Sway Calloway‘s radio show, Sway In The Morning.

The G.O.O.D. Music-signed producer/emcee, who recently put out his debut rap project, HITstory, spoke on a number of topics, including Kanye’s influence on him, having the ability to “see” colours when listening to music (the same concept, which falls under the synesthesia diagnosis, which drove N.E.R.D.‘s 2008 album, Seeing Sounds), being sworn to secrecy on new music by Jay-Z and ‘Ye, and having an uncle in the No. 1 charting ’80s and ’90s R&B group, Troop.

The G.O.O.D. Music album, Cruel Summer, was also a major talking point in the conversation. Sway himself said that Kanye told him he has always done things “against the rules”, but for this record, will use the rules to his favour (case in point: the trap-style beats heard on “N*ggas In Paris” and “Mercy”).

Hit-Boy later revealed that he has one potentially huge track on Cruel Summer, which will probably “change my life, again”. He also hinted, with a cheek-wide grin on his face, that the song features “a few” guests. I, for one, can’t wait.

Check out the full interview below and do remember, Cruel Summer hits stores on September 18th.
