Freeway signs to Babygrande Records, announces ‘Diamond In The Ruff’ album release date | Music News

Freeway may have failed to attract the same mainstream attention he enjoyed during the early and mid ’00s in Jay-Z‘s Roc-A-Fella ranks since departing the label in 2009, but the proud Philadelphia rapper looks to take his tenured career to its next stage by signing with the New York-based indie, Babygrand Records.

In addition to the new deal, Freeway has also announced the release date for his fourth solo album, Diamond In The Ruff, which will arrive on November 13th. Wale, Styles P, Marsha Ambrosius and Musiq Soulchild are all expected to feature, while Bink!, Needlez and Jake One, whom the emcee collaborated with for the highly-acclaimed 2010 LP, The Stimulus Package, will lend production.

“Freeway is a legend. ‘Philadelphia Freeway’ is easily one of my favorite albums of all time. From his time working with Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella to his independent releases, Freeway remains one of the most consistent artists. We’re excited to partner with him and Amir [Sulaiman] for ‘Diamond In The Ruff,’” said Babygrande executive, Ruddy Rock.

Freeway is also currently working on his Freedom of Speech mixtape, which has yet to be scheduled with a release date.
