Freddie Gibbs f/ Dana Williams – ‘The Hard’ | New Music

Gary, Indiana’s own Freddie Gibbs drops “The Hard,” some smooth gangsta shit from his forthcoming Baby Face Killa mixtape.

“The Hard” is an example of why Gangsta Gibbs is one of my two favorite new jacks (what up, K.R.I.T.?). In an industry flooded with more than enough gimmicks, games, party and bullshit, Gibbs consistently delivers that raw, dropping finely-crafted but not overly technical bars in a voice obviously experienced in the street life. The kid also has quite the ear for beats and melody, as this Emotions sample flipped by Florida-based producer Feb9 and enhanced by the vocal stylings of Dana Williams makes very clear.

Frankly put: Freddie Gibbs is dope. Of the uncut variety, of course. I can’t wait for Baby Face Killa.
