Former No Limit rapper Mr. Magic and wife die in car crash | News

We are sad to report that ex-No Limit Records signee Magic, real name Awood Johnson, died in a car crash last night with his wife in Mississippi. According to reports, Magic’s daughter was also in the crash but thankfully survived.

With prayers going out to Magic’s friends and family, tweets from ex-labelmates Silkk The Shocker and C-Murder confirmed the passing of the Ninth Ward, New Orleans rapper.

Magic, also known as Mr. Magic, released four albums during his career as a rapper. The first three were released under the Master P owned No Limit Records imprint, while his final project On My Own was distributed in 2003 via Koch. At the height of No Limit’s mass popularity, Magic’s debut album, Sky’s The Limit proved to be his most successful when it landed in the top 20 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in 1998. He was also known as one-third of the rap trio Body Head Bangerz, alongside boxing champ Roy Jones Jr. and fellow No Limit alumnus Choppa.

For those more familiar with No Limit Records tracks as opposed to individual artists, you might remember him for featuring on the C-Murder and Snoop Dogg joint “Down 4 My N’s”.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Magic.
