Florence and the Machine – ‘Spectrum’ (Maya Jane Coles remix) | New Music

This is stunning — one of the hottest new names in dance music has gotten her highly-touted hands on the latest single from British band Florence and the Machine, transforming the track taken from their sophomore album Ceremonials into an atmospheric house banger. Lead singer Florence Welch‘s ethereal powerhouse vocals sit perfectly on British/Japanese producer Maya Jane Coles‘ sparse soundscape.

It’s another great look for Coles, who has already worked on remixes for the likes of Lianne La Havas, Bo Saris and Little Dragon this year, on the back of scooping up a bunch of noteworthy accolades at the back end of 2011. Watch out for her — she’s going to be a very big name pretty soon.

I’ve lowkey been a fan of Florence and her voice since her band’s debut album Lungs dropped almost exactly three years ago and it’s always great to hear her taken out of her comfort zone. I need to hear a Florence and The Weeknd collaboration like yesterday. That “Shake It Out” remix was just an appetiser; both of their voices are all atmosphere and high drama and they would sound incredible together. He’s opening for Florence and her machine on tour later this year, so fingers crossed they make it happen.
