Eric Benet Makes Solid Return With “Sometimes I Cry”

Eric Benet is back with that voice I love so much.

With a range as extensive and powerful – if not more so – as the leading soulful male vocalists in the mix today [see albums True To Myself and A Day In The Life for strong examples], I’ve always thought it was a shame he gets talked about [and listened to] far less.

Admittedly, Hurricane wasn’t a rounded picture of his artistry – it fell very much on the dreary side – but from the sounds of this new single things may be about to get exciting….

Brand new single “Sometimes I Cry” is the first from Eric Benet’s forthcoming fifth album, Lost in Time – due for release later this year on Reprise Records.

Avoiding the one-dimensional mush of today’s pop-R&B hybrids, “Sometimes I Cry” marks a strong, emotive return to the classic, crafted, soulful sound of Benet’s earlier releases. [It would also blend nicely with Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You” – no complaints here…]
