At the turn of each year’s MOBO Awards the ensuing social media commentary that follows is both entertaining and at times scathingly critical. Despite this, the MOBO Awards held in Liverpool this year saw it’s 17th year of celebration with artists Plan B and Emeli Sandé winning big.

Scottish star Emeli Sandé walked away with three awards (Best UK Female, Best Album and Best R&B/Soul Act) while Plan B walked away with awards in the Best UK Male and Best Grime/Hip Hop Act category.

With performances from new artists such as Misha B, who performed her debut single “Home Run”, Angel and Stooshe’s rendition of the TLC hit “Waterfalls”; this year’s awards also recognised TLC for their outstanding contribution to music and celebrated songstress, “Walk On By” singer Dionne Warwick with a lifetime achievement award.

MOBO founder Kanya King commented on this year’s festivities saying, “Each year we’re staggered by the calibre of the talent on display at the Mobo Awards. This year has been outstanding and we’re honoured to showcase the best of the best on the night. Tonight has been a night for not only homegrown talent such as Emeli Sandé and Plan B, who we’ve championed from the beginning of their careers, but also less represented genres of music such as gospel, jazz and African which are equally important for Mobo.” Check out the full list of winners below.
