Along with his admirable work ethic and his talent for making hit record after hit record, Drake often finds himself surrounded by controversy and gossip and is a popular topic of conversation among hip-hop heads and bloggers alike.

Whether it’s speculation about him dating Rihanna or his fall-out with The Weeknd, Drizzy is always being talked about. So this week he stopped by East Village Radio to speak to veteran hip-hop journalist, Elliott Wilson, and cleared up some of the rumours that have been playing on our minds for the last few months.

In a rare candid interview, the Canadian rapper found time to touch on a variety of subjects and didn’t hold back on some of the more personal aspects of his life, including his notorious beef with Chris Brown, that came to a head during a fight in a New York nightclub last year – allegedly because Drake had slept with Breezy’s on-off flame, Rihanna.

Speaking about Chris, Drake said: “Stop praying on his insecurities, because his insecurities are the fact that I make better music than him, that I’m more popping than him and that at one point the woman he loves fell into my lap and I did what a real n—a would do and treated her with respect, so she’s not up there talking down on me.”

As well as addressing the gossip, Drizzy also shed some light on what fans can expect from his third studio album, Nothing Was The Same, as well as what it’s like to work with some of the music industry’s most popular rappers, including Kendrick Lamar, Future and 2 Chainz and how he gave other stars, such as A$AP Rocky, a platform for their art.

Discussing his forthcoming LP [yet to be given a release date], Drake said: “I’m just really trying to set up a story for the album. I think when you hear the album, it’s definitely one of the most musical pieces that me and 40 [Noah “40” Shebib] have done. At this point, he’s pretty much done the whole album thus far.”

The rap superstar even goes on to admit that he created the beat for A$AP Rocky’s hit track, “Fuckin’ Problems” and reveals that 2 Chainz was the inspiration behind the hook.

“It was kind of my first beat that I ever made,” he explained. “I just had the beat and I was just looking for somebody to give it to because I didn’t have an album coming out and I was like ‘Man, this is good for somebody.’ Kendrick had his story all pieced together already, so we went to A$AP and were like ‘Yo, you can have it if you want’.”
