Fresh off the release of their collaborative LP, KoleXXXion, hip-hop stalwarts DJ Premier and Bumpy Knuckles caught up with Out Da Box TV for a lengthy discussion, and here we have part 1. In the clip below, you can hear the two vets share their thoughts on the current state of hip-hop, the difference in the generations of fans, variations in East Coast, West Coast and Southern rap, New York’s identity and plenty more.

We got a chance to chat with the two recently at Premier’s NY music studio. They took the time to speak to us on a number of enlightening topics, with regards to the current state of Hip Hop and helping to progress the culture forward. Among other topics Bumpy and Premier also took a moment to talk about the origins of New York Hip Hop and the reasoning behind how it has lost its identity over the years.
