Devine Carama – “Stars” | New Music

It’s always nice to discover a hidden gem amongst the clutter of today’s busy music scene. Seductively smooth with a dose of energetic bars, Devine Carama shows us he’s destined for great things on his offering “Stars”.

Sampling Musiq Soulchild‘s “Soulstar”, which in turn sampled “I Found Love (When I Found You)” by The Spinners, the Kentucky emcee hits listeners over the head with some soulfully alluring Hip-Hop. Not afraid to call out the website Worldstar for not portraying black people in the best light, he spits, “I’m not a superstar, I’m a soulstar/ I love my people that’s why I never check Worldstar.”

Having worked with the likes of Thee Tom Hardy, Vito Banga of Nappy Roots, Canibus, and the group CunningLynguists, the DJ Well Blended “Stars” is the first single to be taken from his upcoming EP No Child Is Left Behind. Tired of the same old same old, Carama promises to evoke that passion lost in the current array of electronic commercialism – “I love the music coming out right, I really do. I just think we need more balance in the substance and the feel that’s out there.”
