destinys-child

Hot on the heels of the news of a new forthcoming Destiny’s Child release – a 14-track compilation titled Love Songs, featuring tracks from the trio’s back catalogue plus a new song – said newbie arrives. Produced by Pharrell, who also co-wrote it with Michelle Williams, James Fauntleroy and Lonny Bereal, “Nuclear” is the first new song to be released from the group since 2005.

It’s also bland, uninspired-sounding elevator music – particularly disappointing given the commercial resurgence in creative R&B and musical concepts going on elsewhere today, let alone the strength of the group’s output to date – packed with plenty of scientific metaphors to roll your eyes at. So much for evolution, eh?

But don’t take my word for it – take a listen below.

Love Songs is set for release on January 29 via Music World Entertainment, Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings. [Pre-order here]
