David Banner f/ Maino – ‘Castles In Brooklyn’ | New Music

With “Believe“, “Let Me In” and “Californication” floating around the net, David Banner continues to build steam for his forthcoming independent album Sex, Drugs & Video Games with this Maino-assisted track, “Castles In Brooklyn”.

Considering the Mississippi native’s last output was 2010’s soulful selection, Death of a Pop Star with 9th Wonder, it would appear that Banner is riding a wild pendulum, swinging between two contrasting corners of the hip-hop spectrum; particularly as this next project is shaping up to be as dangerous to your speakers as Mississippi: The Album once was.

But don’t be fooled into thinking Banner is just complying to the industry’s demands. In a recent sit down with Thisis50’s Jack Thriller, he said: “Sex, Drugs & Video Games has the music that you know what people want to hear, I know what people want to hear. So, I’ma give them that – mostly, still throw a little bit [of consciousness] in it. But I’m asking the question, why do we love sex, drugs and violence so much?”

Mull it over as you listen to “Castles In Brooklyn” below. The album is set to be released on May 22nd and will feature Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, A$AP Rocky, Big K.R.I.T., Bun B and more.

The release coincides with David Banner’s 2M1 movement, which you can support here.
