D’Angelo x Mary J. Blige to embark on ‘Liberation Tour’ | Music News

In what has to be a dream come true for fans of soulful R&B, Rolling Stone reports that D’Angelo and Mary J. Blige will embark on a joint tour beginning in August.

Dubbed the “Liberation Tour” by Live Nation, there are only four confirmed shows so far but Rolling Stone says the dynamic duo will hit the stage in 20 cities throughout the month.

Commenting about the tour after shortly before D’Angelo’s showstopping set at this year’s Essence Music Festival, Blige said, “I felt like it would be refreshing and fun for people to see him and Mary J. Blige on the road together.”

There are probably several more concise adjectives to describe such a union — amazing, overdue, must-see and super-duper-extra-fuckin’-dope, to name a few — but “refreshing” and “fun” will suffice.

The Liberation Tour will also feature Melanie Fiona, according to Live Nation.
