Common talks new book, performing for Obama family + more [Video]

In part two of their exclusive interview with Common, HardKnockTV catch up with the Chi-town native while he was on set of the video shoot of his latest single “Blue Sky.” In between shoots, Common sat down to talk about his newest book One Day It Will All Make Sense. In the book, the “I Used To Love Her” rapper discusses his close relationship with his mother, as well as how being raised up around a lot of women helped shape him as the man that he is today.

Earlier this year, Common made headlines and national news when he was invited by the presidential house to perform at the White House. However, not necessarily for positive reasons. Common reflects on that day, and how it started off with him visiting a plantation for research of a freed slave, to being introduced by the Obama family to perform his poetry, and ending off his day being scrutinized by Fox News. Nevertheless though, Common still sees it to be “one of the greatest days of [his] life.”

His forthcoming album The Dreamer, The Believer has been postponed until December 2011.
