Clement Marfo & The Frontline and Angel nominated for MTV’s Brand New for 2012 | Music News


MTV UK has announced Hip Hop/Grime/Rock collective Clement Marfo & The Frontline and R&B singer Angel as the first two nominees in their ‘Brand New for 2012’ competition.

A seven piece collective from South London, Clement Marfo and the Frontline have sparked the interest of many with their energetic live performances and debut single ‘Overtime‘ featuring Ghetts [out now].

Clement Marfo gives his reaction to the news; “Thoroughly overwhelmed by this news! This year has been a positive start and we are honestly privileged to be acknowledged by MTV for doing what it is we love to do. 2012 is going to be a flourishing year for British music.”

Angel, who has penned tracks for the likes of Roll Deep, Pixie Lott and Jason Derulo is the second of ten nominees, having incited many-a-fan with his unique singing/rapping skills. “It’s an honour to be nominated by MTV. This has motivated me to work harder,” he says.

Both acts will join Wretch 32 for a gig at London’s Koko on December 1st, where the rest of the nominees will be announced – get your tickets here.

Previous nominees include the likes of Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Tinie Tempah, Adele, Florence + The Machine and Jessie J, whilst last year’s top spot was scooped by indie rockers Mona.
