Cee Lo confirms new Goodie Mob album due Spring 2011

Finally there’s an update on the status of a new album from acclaimed Atlanta Hip Hop group Goodie Mob, who announced their return last year with a reunion concert in Atlanta.

In a recent interview [watch above], founding Goodie Mob member and successful solo artist in his own right Cee Lo Green announced, “We’re all geared up and ready to go. I was just trying to get the Lady Killer album up and run and it’s out so I’m done with it, I’m moving on now – Goodie Mob next.”

Promising “a mixtape or single or two” from the group before the year is out, Cee Lo reveals that a Goodie Mob LP should be available in March or April of 2011.

Hailed in particular for their 1995 debut LP, Soul Food, Goodie Mob released three successful albums together with Cee Lo before his departure in 2000, leading to his solo releases and the inception of Gnarls Barkley. Goodie Mob’s following album, titled One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show (2004), was inferred by some as a snide reference to the group’s former member.

Cee Lo now speaks on the group’s break up and his understanding of that LP title, One Monkey…; “To make a long story short – we’re cool,” he concludes. “I don’t wish for people to take that [album title] so literal any further, because it wasn’t like that.”

Similarly, last year fellow Goodie Mob founder Big Gipp spoke to SoulCulture on the group’s reunion and his relationship with Cee Lo:
