Cassidy freestyles on 106 & Park’s ‘The Backroom’ [Video]

Long before Meek Mill was the flavor of the month, Philly rap cat Cassidy was Philly’s street rap spokesperson, battling his way up through The City Of Brotherly Love’s battle scene to releasing certified street classic mixtapes, to his signing a major label record deal with J Records via Swizz Beatz‘s now defunct Full Surface Records. Poor album sales, a lengthly jail time and a near-death car accident sidelined The Hustla’s once promising career – ut those troubles appear to be behind him as he now has a new team behind him and is currently prepping another full length studio LP, via E1 Music.

During a week in which he judged 106 & Park‘s Freestyle Friday round robin competition, Cas took the opportunity to show these young boys that he’s still got it by stepping up to the 106 mic on their popular freestyle spit game series The Backroom.

Over a pretty horrible production [that’s being kind] Cassidy flexes street, comical and hard bars spitting such flames as “Its real hard for dues to try and make up a rhyme, like a barber trying to shape up [NBA star] Lebron…” Check out the full freestyle session below.
