Cash Money signs producer RedOne | Music News

While fellow hip-hop crews Maybach Music and G.O.O.D. Music continue to build their own rosters with respective acquisitions like Rockie Fresh and Q-Tip in recent months, the Cash Money crew have remained largely lowkey in the talent market. After making a surprise signing back in February by inking once-popular Nu Metal band Limp Bizkit, Birdman and Slim strengthen their backroom team today as they acquire producer RedOne.

The Moroccan native is best known for producing some of Lady Gaga‘s most popular hits, including “Poker Face,” “Just Dance” and Bad Romance,” as well as “Starships” for Young Money‘s own Nicki Minaj, “Poison” for Nicole Sherzinger, and “On The Floor” for Jennifer Lopez. RedOne has won two Grammy awards, in 2010 and 2011, respectively, both for his work on Lady Gaga albums.

“I have always been impressed with the way [Ronald] ‘Slim’ [Williams] and [Brian] ‘Baby’ [Williams] do business,” he said. “Their determination to build their artists’ careers from the ground to superstardom shows their sheer commitment.

“I have strived to work with the best in the industry throughout my career and this opportunity to partner my 2101 label with Cash Money on these projects is one such example. Together, we’ll be able to continue to help build global stars and make hit music that we hope fans around the world will enjoy.”

Co-Founder of Cash Money and Birdman’s brother, Ronald “Slim” Williams is inclined to agree.

“We consider Cash Money a family, and Red One fits right in,” he said. “He is a world-class producer, songwriter, musician, and now record executive who just adds to what we have built here, and look forward to expanding in the years ahead.”

The addition looks to place the Cash Money brand as not only one of hip-hop’s, but pop music’s most powerful forces.
