Canibus’ manager debunks his alleged apology over rhymebook rap battle | Music News

Earlier today, we reported that Canibus had allegedly issued an apology (well, it was more of an excuse really) following his bizarre behaviour in a recent promotional rap battle with Dizaster, where the legendary lyricist forgot his rhymes mid-battle and resorted to reading from a notepad. Pretty embarassing stuff.

The statement, which sounded legitimate one line and ridiculous, probably made-up the next, was supposedly written by Canibus himself and explained that he had been feeling the after-effects of having a broken arm and stitches in his head, and subsequently couldn’t remember his lines.

According to the rapper’s manager M-Eighty, the apology, which was posted to Tumblr yesterday, is baloney. Speaking with HipHopDX, M-Eighty says the apology wasn’t written by Canibus, who is currently spending a few days with his family and will address the situation with a real statement soon.

M-Eighty did issue a statement himself on the rhymebook situation, however:

“To sum up, it is unfortunate that Canibus lost the battle but the fact of the matter is Bis is not not built for that type of forum anymore,” he said. “We all know Bis is a lyrical monster and his entire catalogue of tracks and albums is proof of that. Vendetta: Battle Royale was the first time since as far back as I can remember that Canibus has availed himself to an actual “battle” of this magnitude and guess what…he lost to a guy who is considered the ‘KOTD Champion’ and only writes battle raps specifically for this arena at an event held in his hometown. Obviously the odds were against us.”
