Bunji Garlin – “Carnival Tabanca” | Music Video

As the countdown to London’s Notting Hill Carnival continues, those who are new to the Soca scene will be hearing plenty of songs from Trinidadian artist Bunji Garlin. As a well known and accomplished singer, having won Trinidad’s Soca Monarch/International Soca Monarch, Garlin’s style is instantly recognizable with his fusion of ragga and soca music.

Over the years, he has spoken out against political and social issues, which have often been the subject of his songs; including a retaliation song aimed at I-Wayne’s alleged negative comments about Soca music.

The Soca Viking has been causing a stir with his latest offering as he delves into new musical territories; maintaining his singjay style but keeping the soca rhythm to a minimum on “Carnival Tabanca,” where he focuses on a slower-paced dance tempo. Listen below.
