Birdman wants to sign Chief Keef, says he’ll do ‘whatever it takes’ | Music News

In case you’ve forgotten, Cash Money really is an army. Outside of their big three of Lil’ Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj, the label’s stacked roster also boasts acts like veteran MCs Mystikal and Busta Rhymes, crooners Jay Sean and PJ Morton, and newcomers like Kevin Rudolf and Tyga. Throw in the recent acquisitions of Christina Milian, Limp Bizkit and Ace Hood (via the label’s procurement of DJ Khaled‘s We The Best imprint), and you’d be hard-pressed to find a team more diverse.

Apparently YMCMB CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams still isn’t satisfied and tells MTV that he now has his sights on Keith “Chief Keef” Cozart, the unsigned, teenaged Chi-Town shit-starter who has already garnered co-signs from industry heavyweights like Kanye West.

“I like him, he kinda reminds me of us,” Birdman tells Sway about the budding MC, referring to his Cash Money team. “[He’s] out the streets, I think he’s swagged up and I’m definitely talking to his people and I’d like to see if we can make it pop. One thing I wanna do is see if I can get the young boy to come be down with the team.”

Birdman says he’s impressed with Keef’s movement and would do “whatever it takes” to make a deal happen.

Birdman’s revelation confirms an April 20 tweet from Keef claiming the label was interested in signing him, and, if a tweet from late last night is any indication, Keef definitely seems interested in taking his talents to New Orleans.

Keef has been the talk of Hip-Hop for the last few weeks, most recently due to the star-studded remix to his song “I Don’t Like” featuring half of West’s G.O.O.D. Music roster and some guy named Jadakiss. (Maybe you’ve heard of him.)

Will Birdman’s attempts to recruit Keef into the YMCMB platoon be successful? Would it be a good fit? Will there be room for the kid or would he get the Cory Gunz treatment? Only time will tell.
