Big K.R.I.T. talks ‘Live From the Underground,’ production styles + his creative process on Showoff Radio [Video]

Rookie of the year Big K.R.I.T. stopped by Shade 45’s Showoff Radio recently to discuss his work ethic, compare production styles with host and fellow producer Statik Selektah and describe the difference in his approach to creating his mixtapes versus his debut album.

“I’m my worst critic at the end of the day. I really feel like I was competing with myself,” K.R.I.T. said about creating his stellar debut, Live From the Underground. Unlike his critically-acclaimed mixtapes, all of which were like unofficial albums and featured all-original production, he says he had to keep in mind that the official LP couldn’t have as many tracks or features, and that he had to take a more professional approach to its creation. “It had to be a lil’ bit more strategic, there had to be a rollout. … I had to sit back and really focus on the business to it.”
