Beyoncé addresses ‘lip syncing’ reports x sings “The Star-Spangled Banner” live @ Superbowl press conference

Many thought that Beyoncé had already addressed the issue of her miming at the President’s inaguration ceremony when she wore a quirky jumper with the word “Can I live?” printed across it – but that would be way too simple for Queen B. Even though she’s been in the industry for over a decade and has nothing to prove, she still took the time to show out at a press conference as she kicked things off by singing the National Anthem… live.

Originally the press conference was set to talk about her upcoming show at this years Super Bowl, but with recent headlines and controversy around the singer, she thought it best to address the elephant in the room first. Walking in to the conference, Beyoncé asked the worlds press, “Would you guys mind standing?”

She then went on to slay the National Anthem proving she’s every inch the performer as she showed off towards the end with her vocals to prove her critics wrong. The press conference then went on as usual as she answered questions and spoke about her plans for the Super Bowl performance.

Admitting that she did sing to a backing track, the singer explained,“I am a perfectionist. I practice till my feet bleed. I didn’t have time to practice with the orchestra. So due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking the risk.”

However, Bey did confirm that she would be singing live during the halftime performance this Sunday as she’s fully prepared this time.“I will absolutely be singing live [at the Super Bowl],” she states. “I am well-rehearsed and I will be singing live. This is what I was born to do… I always sing live.”

Towards the end of the conference, Beyoncé also teased about a major announcement that would be made following her Super Bowl performance, leaving many wondering. Could it be the name of the new album? Destiny’s Child tour? Another Blue Ivy on the way? I guess we’ll just keep guessig for the time being.
